  Above is the critical reflection for my process in filming the final task as well as a reflection of its entirety. Through this video I briefly go over my process and how it contributed to the makings of the movie. I hope you all enjoy! And can see my own perspective of the film, Olive is a film that’d be hard to miss.

 Here is the final task in it’s entirety. This movie is about a girl from a family of criminals and a mafia background. With such danger, they’ve always had to live looking over their shoulder and Olive has dealt with this her whole life and she’s so young. So her mom makes the sacrifice of sending her away to get a better life. However, how long will it be before the family’s past catches up. 

 I’m gladly finished with editing and setting the movie together. However, I now need to add the titles and make sure they flow with the film. I previously chose a font and colors that I’d use but now I tried them and they don’t flow at all and contrast with the backgrounds of the film.  Therefore, I switched gears and instead used the Text editing option on iMovie and made titles from there. I used all white font and just zoomed in and out for sizing. The text graphics i used were the split , standard, and reveal features for the titles. For the  main movie title (Olive), I used the line/title graphic on a black background to pop out mid film to grab a viewers attention. I had to constantly split up the footage clips to assert the text in a way to seem recurring. I also did this so the titles can either match the background music or just or get in the way of the acting. The film is officially done! 

  I’m editing fully now, and using the iMovie platform from my phone and my IPad. I would alternate for some parts but being that all my footage is on my phone I’d rather just use the phone to be consistent and avoid problems. On iMovie I put all the footage in the order that I choose that other day, and didn’t fully like it so I switched it up a bit. I chose the transitions that’ll go in between parts of the film. As well as cropped the unnecessary parts that I didn’t need. I added the music and today I changed the music again. I left session studios  and now use music from N beats which is also another YouTube producer. Their beat just felt more dramatic instead of being something out of a horror film and that’s hard to find. I added a knife sound effect early on in the movie where a character whips one out and I found that part cool. When adding the audio, I had to find where to make it high and low in order for the characters and diegetic sound to be heard. Film and sound ...

  In the past blog, I said that I planned on continuing my filming process. I just reviewed the amount of film that I think it’s time I just start editing. I have enough film and was able to film the last part I needed from galleria mall. I used the checklist my teacher gave me to check the amount of film I have, to check for enough variety in the footage I took. I checked off most of them and had other film parts that weren’t listed.  I did a brief editing day by just figuring out the order I would like to place my film in. My storyboard from the beginning had my ideal goal but overtime the scenes and placement of things changed but the plot remains. I even added a different character along the way. I also choose my music a while back however, with the film progressing, new ideas and old plans just don’t fit together. I changed the music selection and I’ll be using audio from session studios which is a music and beat maker from YouTube. He puts his self made beats online and ...

  It’s currently Monday and this past weekend I expected to film. Sadly I didn’t have time because I had a track meet and a busy schedule. With the film deadline approaching quickly, I really want to be done filming by Thursday in order to get a move on in the editing process!  I think I’ll be able to do get some filming done tomorrow and possibly Friday if needed. Then spend the last week until the project is due getting final and minor clips then continue editing and producing. I still need to go back to Galleria Mall and film at the parking garage. A big issue throughout this process has been me not having a car do my tasks whenever I’m free. And with not having my own car, it pulls away from the consistency of a car being used in the film. I didn’t want to have to have different cars in the film but it makes sense for certain parts. It can emphasize the characters switching lifestyles every other month! 

  Again, it’s Thursday and the middle of the week. This week I was busy with track meets, school work, and clubs so it was hard to find time to fit in filming.  I expect to film this weekend and get the final and finishing films in! I’ve already made plans with alternative people in case those initially planned for the film can’t make it. It’s crunch time and it needs to get on track and in order. This weekend I’ll be visiting Galleria Mall and redo the scenes I wanted. I’ll also be doing the gas station scene again. I do have a track meet this weekend, and that’ll be the only thing that could possibly hinder me from exerting my plans.
