Art of the Title Website

Image
Starting my title design process, I went to the site, Art of the Title, to do my research. It was recommended by my instructors and I see why. This site is a publication site, describing and evaluating the design process of Titles in hundreds of movies and TV shows. Also including the various factors that go into this. Mainly the art correlation of title, genre, and film tied into one. With my time on this site, I was able o go through a couple of familiar movies and shows. Researching things I knew made more sense to me because being more familiar with it would increase my understanding and application. Intertwining the font and design with the plot is the highest degree of significance within the title design process.

Genre Research: Hidden Figures 2016

Image
Hidden Figures is a blast from the past to present a monumental moment in history for women, The women in this movie were hidden figures to a global phenomenon. Three intellectual African-American women working at NASA were the brains behind the operation of launching astronaut, John Glenn, into orbit. This gave the nation confidence and boosted the competitive spirit in the Space race. The women's names are Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson. This plot addresses social issues, and challenged the stereotypes that were placed against women. This allowed it to have an emotional stronghold and really engage with the audience. This movie was based on a true story, and its reality couldn't be more relevant in the world today. In my film, I want to include some traits, events, and characteristics that are surely relatable to the audience. Whether it'll empower or thrill a person, the connection with the audience is what I'll aim for.

Genre Research: Me Before You 2016

Image
Me Before You was a full on drama influenced and led by romance. A man was living a lavish, wealthy and adventurous life until his life changed completely after being in an accident that left him paralyzed. Louisa enters his life as his caregiver but becomes so much more by loving him and wanting him to find value in his life. But in all her efforts, his mind didn't change. A necessary convention of drama was character development. Within the movie, Louisa grew personally and it's because of her experiences with Will. In my film I'll be sure to include that development. Another thing that made this movie successful was the irony in some parts. Will used to jump off cliffs into oceans and since he cant walk, going back to his old life isn't even an option. Lastly, was the unpredictable ending. The continuous drama of what'd happen next and the constant rising of issues made it interesting and I'll be sure to take that into thought when creating my film.

Genre research: Bohemian Rhapsody 2018

Image
Bohemian Rhapsody was released in 2018 and a true showstopper! This movie was made about Queen, a revolutionary band that overcame individual and stereotypical limitations through their reach of music. The movie brought those watching through their lifetime of being in a band and personalized the feeling with drama. Bohemian Rhapsody earned much recognition through awards and nominations that I believe was truly earned! Conventions in this movie that I'd like to include in my film would be the inclusion of character development, emotional connection with audience, and its realistic base. These three things are what I feel made the movie successful. However, where they should've drew the line is how much drama thy played into the movie. Of course its supposed to be dramatic but exerting too much drama can create an overwhelming intensity that drives away from the storyline.

Genre Decision Blog

Image
The process of choosing a genre wasn't too complicated for me. Usually, those working in groups would have to consensually decide however, luckily, me being independent avoided that entirely. I was able o spearhead this decision process in which I landed on having a Drama film. I've watched plenty of drama films and its become one of my favorite genres. It's fun and the constant thrills of plot twists are beautifully embedded to these films. Keeping an audience on their toes should be the goal of every film in which, I'll aim to succeed at this job. Through much research on the genre, I'll be sure to include all of it's conventions so its genre background of drama is recognized.

Genre Research: Comedy & Horror

COMEDY RESEARCH    HORROR RESEARCH

Genre Research: Action

I was given a project to choose a genre I'm interested in and follow through. It was done in a PowerPoint and I needed to identify the key characteristics and conventions within it. Such as lighting, camera angles, and how does CLAMPS contribute to the theme.

My Pitch!

Image
Brainstorming has been a fun process and I believe all of my ideas had great potential to be great. I already knew the genre I wanted to do, which is drama and a bit of thriller included. Through that I settled on 2 final ideas and then choose the final one. IDEA #1 : A woman born as Annaliese comes from a foreign country with a family involved in various malicious activity such as drug trafficking, and murder business. Because she was apart of the family, she had no choice but to join the family business and earn her keep. One day, all hell broke loose, sending Annaliese on the run, also giving her the opportunity to recreate herself. Keeping her past self behind her, she ran to America and kept various identities. However, how long would it be until her pas catches up with her.          IDEA #2 : An olive branch was the center of the family crest, giving her her name, Olive. A teenage girl sent to America by her other to get away from the mafia family b...

Starting the Final Task

Image
After a long school year, we've finally reached the final task!  My name is Tanicha Amy Saintigene, and I am a current junior enrolled in the AICE Media Studies Course. Through this course I'll be given an experience of exploration in media. This project enables me to be a creative director, producer, screen writer, editor, and designer all in one. And like all of the other projects, I shall be working alone. Working alone is what gives me all of those positions to myself. With all my ideas coming from me, I know with strong direction and a vision, I can bring it to life. Plus, working alone means less liabilities and forces ownership and responsibility on me. It also gives me peace of mind. I've already gotten a few ideas on what I'd like to do for the film and I'm excited for what's to come next!
