Final Task: Filming over Spring Break & more planning

Image
As previously planned! I was able to film over spring break. Not as much as I wanted to but I still feel like everything is on track so far. Over spring break, I got to film the shots of the car driving on Las O Las Blvd and going up onto the highway, as well as driving on the highway. I took these to show and exaggerate the mileage that the characters in the film are traveling and highlight a new destination. I filmed those during the day but I think I’d rather use night clips for those scenes or incorporate both. So it’s definitely a plan of mine to go back and refill those. I filmed from a low and high angle giving different views of the car. I got an idea while doing so that the characters in that scene will switch cars and go into a new one to blend in or just change identities again. On the contrary, I still haven’t been able to get the actors all together at once to do the needed scenes. One of them needed transportation to the site, another had to work, and another was ou...

Final Task: Pushing back filming

Image
It’s Thursday and the middle of the week. During the week I’m always busy with school and extracurriculars making me unable to film. And the people in my film also have busy schedules consisting of work, extracurriculars, and volunteering schedules. I plan on filming this weekend and the upcoming week is spring break! While I’m on break I truly plan on getting most of my filming done enabling me to start editing the following week.  -During spring break I’d like to get the galleria mall parts done and over with. That garage park is the bulk of the beginning so getting that filmed is top priority. Plus since the film is only a 2 minute intro, I’d like to make sure I’m fully establishing the intro and utilize that location a lot.  - After I’d like to get the transition from the car doing down the roads near the highway and going down Las O Las blvd.

Final Task: Editing my Initial Pitch

Image
After a long week and numerous setbacks, I was finally able to film. While doing so, I realized a lot about my film and I might be changing up a couple things from my initial pitch, including a setting, characters and the film direction itself. While filming, I pretty much thought of a plot twist but I have to get to a certain point in filming to know that that'll be definite. Where I'd like the opening of my film to finish is amazing however, I'm not sure if it can be covered in only 2 minutes. On that note, I'll be editing and most likely changing some of my initial plans. The changes aren't necessarily towards the pitch but the evets happening in the film from my initial planning. INITIAL PITCH: An olive branch was the center of the family crest, giving her her name, Olive. A teenage girl sent to America by her other to get away from the mafia family background. With the family believing that Olive was kidnapped as a child, the family never stopped looking for h...

Final Task: I Started Filming!

Image
Today I filmed at a gas station (new location). It was a Shell station in Lauderdale Lakes. From there I filmed the car from the curb on Oakland Park Blvd and State road 7. I filmed while the car was driving on the main road and turning into the gas station. I filmed on my iPhone 12 in landscape mode. It has a dual-camera setup with dual-LED flash. Its primary camera has a 12 MP sensor with 1..4um pixels and 26 mm-equivalent f/1.6 lens. On the flip side the Ultra-wide camera has a 12 MP 1/3.6 inch sensor and 13 mm-equivalent f/2.4 lens. I'll be shooting at 1080p video with 60 fps. I filmed long shots and close-ups of both Olive and Hermione talking from a front view and got behind the shoulder shots as well. I used natural lighting from the sun. And later on in the day, I went back to the same gas station and filmed these scenes at night for variation of which direction id take during editing. During the night time, I used the natural light from the moon while having the bright l...

Final Task: Weather jam

Image
In my previous blog, I planned to start filming for the final task on March 6, 2021, a Saturday. However, there was terrible rainy weather all day and those plans got trashed. The entire day I kept pushing back the time I would go film at Galleria Mall but the rain just didn't concede. With that happening, the people acting in my film weren't able to drive in the weather to even try out an alternative idea or move on to another scene that was indoors. That was risky for them to even try so I shut down the idea. As of right now, I haven't filmed anything but I think I'll be able to try within the week and again aim for this upcoming weekend. My team and I rescheduled, so hopefully it all works out. I'm aiming to do the scenes at the parking garage, las o las strip, and gas station all on one day. I also dont mind splitting it up. After reviewing my initial plans, I'll be cutting out the past location of the Greek Bistro restaurant for a local gas station.

Final Task: Preparing to film

Image
As scheduled by my instructor, me and my peers doing this final project should have already started our filming process after we spent much time on planning. However, I wasn't able to start filming. I'll begin my filming process on Saturday, March 6th. I just finished my planning this week as well so I'm gathering my thoughts to effectively transfer plans into the film. Another factor that made me unable to film was my involvement in sports and preparing to take the SAT. Good news is that I took the SAT, yesterday and I'm relieved that its over. Filming on Saturday, I'll be filming as long as the weather permits it and my actors/actresses are available. Because most of them are around my age, school and extracurriculars make us unable to get things done during the week. Therefore, we'll have to utilize the weekends and free time as best as possible.  I plan to get the parking garage scenes out of the way first because they're not only the start of the film...

Planning for the Final Task: Scripts

Planning for Final Tasks: Title Design

Image
Font: Tone - Perpetua Titling   ( Olive Branch)  , Brush Script MT  ( Olive Branch ) , and Walbaum Display  ( Olive Branch ). Contrast: Color – On lighter backgrounds I'll be using Seaweed green (SAMPLE)  and Black text . (SAMPLE).  On darker backgrounds, I'll use a white font and a fern green color. EXAMPLE: Tracking: All titles will remain at their default spacing. The title is the only exception, and might have an increased spacing between letters. Working title: I might name the movie, "Olive Branch" or "Olive" How will the titles (the words) enter and leave the screen? The titles will all appear and disappear as in fade in and fade out. Each title will be on the screen for about three seconds. And I plan on revealing more than one at a time to get into the movie quicker. Those positions of more significance will be in the middle and other will be in the left or right lower corners.

Planning for the Final Task: Storyboard

Image
This is my official storyboard! When filming comes, I'll carry these sheets with me and try my best to follow the things planned. If I get a new idea, or have to compromise then it'll all be in the film's best interest.

Planning for the final task: location, health, schedule and more

This planning time was necessary. This is a detailed mission of how id like to proceed with my film. However, I feel like I'll be adjusting my initial plans along the way. For the participants sector, I had to really think of who can play my roles. As well as figuring out who is accessible to me.
