Filming Sunglass Hut Commercial

I began my filming process for the commercial on the 28th of October and finished today on the 31st. It was a thought out process included with some random ideas but I believe I got what I needed for my commercial. Some of the things from my initial planning ideas changed due to unforeseen things like the weather and ways of transportation. Throughout this project I left the Sunglasses in a bag in the car for my convenience, allowing me to film pretty much every chance I got and everywhere I went.

I started on October 28th where I went to Joseph C. Carter Park around 9:30am during my study hall period of school. I used this time to accommodate those starring in the film since they had work later on in the day. We were in the aquatic center of the park and used its benches and scenery for filming. The brand sells sunglasses which was pretty much the prop in all my scenes. I filmed the model with the glasses walking with a range of sideway angles, zoom ins, and even slow-motion clips. Then I put the glasses in different settings and lined them up neatly for shots and videos.

October 29th was a mini filming day and not really planned out. But I used and took the opportunity of making a person I was with an actor in the film. She put on a range of glasses and I took close-up shots and videos. As said in my planning blog, I did want a range of people so the more the merrier.

The next day of filming was Friday October 30th. I went to Westfield Broward Mall, which includes the Sunglass Hut store. I started off by simply taking shots of the storefront from different angles. Then went back outside to the mall entrance and improvised with the scenery. There is a beautiful water fountain front and center there so I used it! I placed and lined up the glasses along the borders of the fountain and took moving videos and pictures. Then I did individual shots of certain glasses. Next to the mall entrance was a sidewalk with the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. I became a model myself for the commercial and walked while putting the glasses on. I recorded my sister putting on the glasses as well. Last task of the day was to drive around with the glasses and look trendy. So I drove around the mall parking lot and the main road (University Drive) while my sister filmed me with different glasses on. Once I parked, I did the same act as the other models and took pictures of close-ups with a range of sunglasses.

On October 31st, I went to Sawgrass Mall and took clips of the storefront just like I did with Broward Mall. On the way there, I rode in the passenger seat. And it led me to take that opportunity of sunshine and take pictures of the glasses on the dashboard. Those pictures came out beautifully!

The process was truly fun. It got me to get creative and use different resources.
