Filming for Music Video

This past week was hard for me to find time to film. All the thanksgiving festivities and family time took over. Plus traveling moved over my planned schedules. However, in South Carolina and other places on the road trip I managed to get a few clips in at random times. Meaning, a few locations were added to my plan as I improvised.

  • The phone conversation scenes - I managed to film a scene of myself doing the act of gossiping on the phone to the other girls include in the video. The setting for this was my bedroom in SC. I used natural lighting from my window and had the camera directly in front of me to film. I had my sister record for me and did multiple shots for more range to chose from.
  • Beach scene - These were very brief clips of the sunset and me at the beach of Myrtle Beach. Because I went around 5:30pm, there wasn't much filming I could do due to it getting dark at 6pm.
  • Great Sights - This is newly added and not planned. While on the road, I seen great bodies of water and areas with pretty scenery. I decided to just film them in case I want to use them for transitions. Or fillers in the music video.
  • Restaurant scenes - For this portion I got clips of me lip syncing the lyrics of the song while at the restaurant tables. The camera was directly in front of me held by the person sitting across from me. And using my drink as a prop. These would've came out way better if the lighting wasn't so low. Therefore, I'll have to either reshoot or just not use the scenes.

When filming, I always take the opportunity to get as much footage as possible. And I do this by filming randomly if I feel something could contribute to the success of the project. In this case, any new ideas I get while out for the music video will definitely be recorded. I will film to be super proactive!
