Planning for my Music Video

Planning is always interesting for me. I love being creative, having lightbulb moments, and thinking out of the box. With this those being pros, there's always the cons of me having too high of expectations, not being realistic, or over exerting myself.

For the Music Video project, my song choice is Boys Aint It by SAYGRACE. This falls under the Pop Genre and I want to represent it to the best of my ability.

Video Idea:

A music video going through a teenage girl or young adult's life or day dealing with boys. Such as girls calling each other to talk about boy issues. A girl at a food establishment or bar having issues with a boy on a date. The "artist" walking outside dressed up singing the song. It'll be similar to most the recent styles of pop videos. Using fun bright colors and energy throughout the video, it'll be a hit.

Prop:

Most of my props will depend on the scenes and characters. During the cellphone gossip scenes, the props will definitely be phones. At food establishments, bars, or tables drinks will be there for actors to sip from and hold. Another prop will probably be sunglasses and hats during dress up/fun scene.

Filming & Tracking Dates :

I want to film from November 21,2020 - November 29,2020.
I'll film at all of the presented locations as well as get footage anywhere I feel contributes to my storyline.

Locations: 

  • Sawgrass Mills Mall - Outlets - Sunrise, FL
  • Las O Las Strip - Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Las O Las Beach, Lauderdale-by-the-beach, FL
  • Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robins - Coral Springs
  • Houses of Characters in videos -various locations
Set:
  • We'll be using a natural set. In video clips of main character they'll be distortion in the background with busy activities going on. In outdoor sets, we'll use natures natural beauty in film.
  • On the Las O Las strip, I want the artists actor to walk and pose on the strip while singing the lyrics. We'll use the surrounding scenery as the set.
  • In the houses, will be a girl's bedroom set up nicely, for a visual of the girl laying down on the phone. 
  • On the beach, I could use the fun and lively scenery for a boy to be in his natural atmosphere having fun, while the girl sips drinks on a beach bench.
  • At any restaurants or food establishments, I'll have the boys play a role while girls are using the drinks as props.
Back-Up Plan:
  • If it rains, most scenes will be transferred indoors. 
  • If actors aren't available, then I'll place myself as artists and do shots in different outfits in the different locations.

      We've been tasked with a Short Film that's supposed to be the length of five minutes. I am working with a group and spent about 2 days brainstorming and came together with ideas and we collectively decided on a product.    Our main pitch and film will be about a man and his wife whom he has just killed. She's been put in the trunk of his car and it will begin with the male actor closing the trunk. Afterwards he's being mentally strained and traumatized with overwhelming guilt to where hes hallucinating his dead wife in his car and around him. Playback's of their memories together will be shown to develop character relationship. The woman's dialogue will be her soothing/downplaying the situation because his subconscious is trying to relieve him of guilt. He'll be completely overwhelmed. Genre Research: Me Before You 2016

  Me Before You was a full on drama influenced and led by romance. A man was living a lavish, wealthy and adventurous life until his life changed completely after being in an accident that left him paralyzed. Louisa enters his life as his caregiver but becomes so much more by loving him and wanting him to find value in his life. But in all her efforts, his mind didn't change. A necessary convention of drama was character development. Within the movie, Louisa grew personally and it's because of her experiences with Will. In my film I'll be sure to include that development. Another thing that made this movie successful was the irony in some parts. Will used to jump off cliffs into oceans and since he cant walk, going back to his old life isn't even an option. Lastly, was the unpredictable ending. The continuous drama of what'd happen next and the constant rising of issues made it interesting and I'll be sure to take that into thought when creating my film.

The Drive, Short Feature - Reflection

  How do your products represent social groups or issues?     Our film isn't vocally or directly focused on social issues however when looking for a deeper meaning, an issue that prevails is the male's mental state. To have killed someone he loves, to imagine/hallucinate them in his space, to then kill himself is a lot to receive in a short film. As we forge through an era where mental health is prioritized, this film was an easy development to portray this. Boys and men are prone to be judged for showing or expressing emotions. In the film, this bottled-up self-hatred, guilt, and uncertainty of the main character led to his own demise. Applied to society, this happens so frequently that people push it under the rug. Men should be allowed to have and express their emotions without feeling empty or weak. We are all human and it's impossible to feel anything.
