Music Video Reflection

Image
1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  This is a pop video where the conventions are bright colors, characters having fun, and money. This genre is most common amongst teens and young adults. Therefore, the song is representing the female point of view on relationship issues. Sure amy! Instead of challenging the convention in Pop, I imbedded heir acts into the video for must exciting days. 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?  My final music video is very engaging and would be popular amongst youth and young adults that both listen/watch it. The strong correlation of my video and videos out by real artists prevail in similarity. I was sure to add direct looks into the camera and fun scenes. Their interest will also peak once the video starts transitioning more and switching scenes.  3. How did your production skills develop throughout this pro...

Boys Ain’t It Music Video

Image
Its been a journey!! The music video is here and complete. Hope you enjoy. Overall it was a fun project and good experience. Doing a commercial project then a music video is an entire switch of direction. It came with more creativity and forced me to use the trait of problem-solving. I had so much film left over, allowing me to create a second music video. However the first product still beat it and became the final. I'm SO proud of the music video and in love with how it came out! The only issues I had were with the lighting being very low during the night time clips and editing the characters mouthing lyrics to match the song times.

Editing & Creating the "Boys Aint It" Music Video

I created two versions of the music video. I often try to create two because, it gives me the opportunity to share my ideas with variety. For the entire video, I filmed on my Apple iPhone 8+, holding the phone horizontally. Majority of the films had natural lighting during both the day and night times. Leading me to edit the night scenes to have lighter tones. For editing and putting pieces together, I mainly used the platforms; iMovie, PicsArt, Lomotif, and the Video Editor App.  For quick collage parts of fun photos, I used lomotif. To create or add colors/drawing I used PicsArt designs. Video Editor App allowed me to crop and edit the videos. iMovie was used to create transitions and put the videos in order. I kept all filming shots and clips in an album saved on my phone titled, "Music Video." Here I was able to quickly find and import clips onto iMovie to build the video and add the order I'd like it to be in. I screen recorded the audio from the song through YouTu...

Additional Filming for Music Video Pt.2

Image
This was my final day of filming! I got all I needed and feel confident in what I have. I filmed majority of what I needed on other days so this is a minor day of filming. Wilton Creamery (Wilton Manors) - Again, I was at an ice-cream establishment. But this time with the male character for this music video. With the same ideas in my storyboard, I filmed the male character being on his phone and somewhat ignoring the date. Its common for girls to hate a guy being on his phone therefore, I feel like this scene is crucial to have. I used the natural night lighting from outside scenery and moonlight. I filmed different shots and angles of the male character.  Home Kitchen - For the beginning of the song, there was a section that said, "You just want cake with your ice-cream." I specifically filmed cake and ice-cream to match the lyrics of the song. I used the natural lighting from the sun coming through windows for this scene. For a second take of this, I used the upward lightin...

Additional Filming for Music Video

Image
Another day and more filming!!! I am back in Florida and can now use the location I'm familiar with to my advantage. I got to incorporate and film some of my initial ideas from my storyboard. I feel like everything is coming together, and piecing it together will be awesome. Baskin Robbins (Coral Springs, FL) - As said before, I wanted to get milkshake from Baskin Robbins to be a prop in my video because it connects to the lyrics. I also wanted to include this because its a fun location and connects to the pop convention.! While at Baskin Robbins, I was able to film the milkshake alone then doing more with it in the video. Afterwards, I filmed the actor singing to the lyrics while in the store. Because we went around 4pm, the sun was bright and we used natural lighting for all of these scenes. I recorded off my phone and directed the actor by giving instruction and specifying lyrics for the them to mouth. I got multiple angles and different backgrounds.  Veterans Park ...
