Short Film Research: Bruiser

Bruiser is a short film thats 10 minutes long. Its about a father and son relationship thats in jeopardy due to the father's ego and pride getting him into fights. The son doesn't want his father to interfere in situations because he makes situations worse and doesn't realize it. As a kid rumors go around fast and getting picked on by others because of your dad isn't ideal. Towards the end the father realizes how his mistakes caused his son to take drastic measures and become his own man due to his dad being unreliable. Although he failed, the father feels guilt and ashamed. It's titled bruiser to characterize the dad as someone who bruises people in fights, or a nickname kids would create. The film was great with the intervals of silence because it allowed actions and emotions to be seen. The film fast tracked-time using transitions, pan shots, and silent character interaction but acting was good. The settings were kept to a limit here and went good with the storyline.
